Great is the Mystery Concerning Christ and the Church

Meeting 1
1. God’s eternal plan – to be expressed through man and to have His kingdom on earth (Gen. 1:26)
2. Experience Christ in relation to His coming
    a. Christ lives in me (Gal. 2:20)
    b. Experience Christ through His death and resurrection (Phil. 3:8-11)
    c. Christ who is our life appears (Col. 3:1-4)
    d. Looking away unto Jesus, the author and the finisher of our faith (Heb. 12:1-2)
    e. Love His appearing (2 Tim. 4:7-8)
    f. As it was in the days of Noah (Luke 17:26, 30, 33-36)
3. The second coming of Jesus Christ (Rev. 1:5-6)
    a. Faithful witness in His first coming to save man (Zech 9:14)
    b. Man’s salvation with purpose – to be co-kings and priests in His coming kingdom (1 Thess. 5:9; Rev. 20:4, 6)
    c. His second coming is visible (Zech 14:9; Matt. 16:27-28)

1. The Church – Christ’s desire (Matt. 16:18; Eph. 5:25)

    c. His house (Eph. 2:21-22; 1 Tim. 3:15-16)
    d. His kingdom (Eph. 2:19)
    e. His bride (Eph. 5:25-27; Rev. 19:7-9)
2. Testimony of oneness (John 17:17)
    a. Oneness of the Spirit (Eph. 4:3-4)
    b. Practical oneness – one church in one city according to the example in God’s word (Acts 8:1; 11:22; 13:1; 1 Cor. 1:2; Rev. 2-3)
    c. To become one, we must follow Christ (Matt. 16:24)
3. The building up of the church
    a. Christ as the master builder (Matt. 16:18; Psa. 127:1)
    b. We, as members, growing up in Him (Eph. 4:15-16)
    c. God’s enemy is to destroy the church through division (Matt. 16:18; Mk. 3:23-27)
    d. We must be active to build His church (Matt. 11:12; Heb. 11:6)
4. Preparing for His second coming (Matt. 16:27-28)
    a. Be saved and baptized (Mark 16:16)
    b. Washed by His word (Eph. 5:26)
        i. Causes us to grow (1 Pet. 2:2-3)
        ii. Overcome the accuser (Rev. 12:10)

    c. Speaking the unsearchable riches of Christ and expressing Him as the church (Eph. 3:8-11)
