The Way of Life(Psalm 16:11)
I. The ancient conflict between the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil A. Christ – the source of life (John 1:1-4; 10:10) vs. Satan – the father of lies and a murderer from the beginning (John 8:44) B. Christ, the Prince of Life vs. the religion of man (Acts 3:14-15) C. The Spirit that gives life vs. the letter that kills (2 Cor. 3:6) D. Walking by the Spirit vs. walking in the flesh (Gal.5:16-17) E. The bride, the New Jerusalem vs. the harlot, Babylon the great (Rev. 17-18; Rev. 21-22)
II. God’s original, unchanging, and unique way for man – the tree of life and the river of the water of life (Gen. 2:9-12; Rev. 2:7; 22:1-2)
A. To partake of God as the real life, the eternal life (John 1:1,4; 1 John 1:1-2; 2:25; 5:11, 13, 20) 1. The living God – the fountain of life (Ps. 36:9; Prov. 14:27) - The life of God (Eph. 4:18) - Christ is the resurrection and the life (John 11:24) - The Spirit gives life (John 6:63) - The living words (spoken by the Lord) are spirit and life (2 Cor. 3:6; 1 John 1:1-2) 2. Man must live by this life (Gal. 2:20; Phil. 1:21) B. To become sons of God (Eph. 1:5) 1. Being holy and without blame before Him (Eph. 1:4) 2. Expressing God’s glory (Matt. 5:16; 1 Tim. 3:16) 3. Being made heir of all things (Gal. 4:7) - The need of maturity (Gal. 4:1; Eph. 4:11-16; Heb. 5:12-14; 1 Cor. 3) - Willing to partake of the sufferings of Christ (Rom. 8:17; Phil. 3:10) - Being led by the Holy Spirit (Rom. 8:14) - A word of warning to the believers (1 Cor. 6:9-10; Gal. 5:19-21; Eph. 5:5; Heb. 12:15-17) 4.
